Inspiration Monday

When I’m online, I’m searching for something. Most of the time, it’s a search for inspiration.

So I’m changing up Monday’s content. I plan on sharing my favorite food news items or quotes I enjoy, but only ones that make me feel ok about humanity. I’ll save any negative news worth blogging about for other days.

I’ve been busy with stuff at home. We had a guest on Friday night so I missed Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution (episode three). I’m going to have to find time to watch it on hulu, but I enjoyed The Lunch Tray’s recap. My little family was on the move this weekend so I didn’t spend much time in front of the screen. Now that the sun is here, I’m obliged to be outside soaking up rays. I need to make Vitamin D. Here’s hoping that I’m not deficient anymore…

In lieu of a blog post, I thought I’d share one of my favorite quotes:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. ” – Nelson Mandela

And I am reminded what I’m doing here in the first place.

  1. I have a question. What type of yogurt is it your son and you eat and where do you get it?

  2. Love this quote. Def. what I needed today. Thank You! I thought of you today when I learned about confectioners glaze containing bugs. Def. something to avoid in my house from now on!

  3. I LOVE that quote! Actually, it's Marianne Williamson; Mandela quoted her in his inaugural address. But it's amazing.

  4. I have that VERY QUOTE typed up and posted next to my monitor!

  5. Be realistic– schools were never intended to or could replace good parenting. It is time all you parents stopped patting yourselves on the back about how good YOU are and go volunteer at the school and make a difference. The reality is that parents SHOULD make their kids breakfasts and lunches. Your children should have been taught to reject food that you would not have approved. I am through raising my children and have watched a scociety abrograte their responsibilities to their children. Jaime Oliver is a self promoting jerk. Why isn't he doing this in the UK where they have a child obesity problem too? Not good TV is my guess. Feed your children correctly make them get off their butts and exercise. Really a better solution to this problem would be to make the kids come in an hour earlier and RUN for 20 minutes 3 X a day. By the way current reasearch suggests that children's tastes are set by the time they are 3 years old. If you feed them high fat and salt in those years it is over before they ever get to school. Be responsible. Volunteer. MAke the would a better place instead of finger pointing.
